A Pastoral Letter from the Council of Bishops To be read from the pulpit in all parishes within thirty days of receipt:
March 21, 2012

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
With the reorganization of diocesan boundaries it seemed right for us to elect Suffragan Bishops to assist in the Apostolate. The Council of Bishops has therefore elected the following priests to serve in that capacity:
- The Reverend Donald M. Ashman (Diocese of the Western States)
- The Reverend John E. Upham, Jr. (Diocese of the Atlantic States)
- The Reverend Canon Frank W. Brulc (Diocese of the Southwestern States)
As per canonical requirement these names will be forwarded to their respective diocesan synods for affirmation.
Bishops Suffragan in the Province of Christ the King serve as assistants to the Diocesan Bishop at his direction. They will continue to fulfill their duties as parish clergy. These appointments carry no right of succession.
God willing, the Consecrations will take place on August 15, 2012 at St. Peter’s Pro-Cathedral, Oakland, California.
The prayerful support and participation of all the faithful is encouraged at this time.
Yours in Christ Jesus,

The Most Rev. James E. Provence
Archbishop
