The MOST Reverend Blair William Schultz
On June 14th, 2023, on the Feast of Saint Basil, the Council of Bishops elected the Right Reverend Blair W. Schultz as the fifth Archbishop of the Anglican Province of Christ the King. Archbishop Schultz was consecrated Bishop Suffragan of the Diocese of the Atlantic States in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on September 21, 2017, by The Most Reverend Frederick G. Morrison, The Right Reverend Donald M. Ashman, The (then) Right Reverend Doctor John E. Upham, and The Right Reverend Frank W. Brulc, to serve in the Diocese of the Atlantic States (DAS), Anglican Province of Christ the King (APCK). Bishop Schultz was elected Bishop Coadjutor in 2021 and became Bishop Ordinary upon the passing of Archbishop John Exley Upham.
Archbishop Schultz was granted a Bachelors of Arts in Chemistry from Monmouth College, Illinois, in 1972 and a Masters of Science in Forensic Science in 1974. He became a a Physical Science Technician, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, in Washington, D.C. and then worked for the Illinois State Police for thirty years.
Called to the priesthood, he attended St. Joseph of Arimathea Anglican Theological College in Berkeley and received a Bachelor of Sacred Theology in 2007. Ordained Deacon in 1998, he was ordained Priest in 2006, to become Rector of All Saints Anglican Church in Bolingbrook in Illinois in 2008. He was appointed Canon to the Archbishop of the APCK in 2012 and Canon to the Bishop of the DAS in 2015.
Archbishop Schultz serves today as President of the Standing Committee of the DAS. He is a member of the Marriage Tribunal, the Board of Examining Chaplains, and the Ecclesiastical Court, all of the Diocese. He is Rector of All Saints Anglican Church in Bolingbrook, IL, St. Joseph’s Collegiate Chapel in Berkeley, CA and St. Ann Chapel in Palo Alto, CA.
Archbishop Schultz has worked with children from pre-school through elementary grades for many years. He was on the Board of Directors of St. John's Pre-School and Program Co-Director for 4th Grade Sunday School students for fifteen years. He has faithfully served as Church Treasurer, Senior Warden, and Junior Warden. He has worked with Big Brothers and Big Sisters for twenty-three years and was awarded an appreciation plaque for his service to the children.
Archbishop Schultz was also given a plaque to honor his work as a Forensic Scientist and an exemplary service medal from All Saints Anglican Church. He was recognized with the Hall of Achievement Award from Willitts School, Monmouth, Illinois.
