1st Call - Spring Semester 2023 Registration
The 2023 Spring Semester is now open for registration. The schedule/description of classes, registration information, and general information are included in this first call for registration. The classes can be taken for credit and for audit. The classes will be offered through the Zoom platform only. The courses will be recorded and provided to those who have registered for credit or for audit.

Courses for the 2023 Spring Semester:
Dogmatic Theology II:
Instructor: The Right Reverend Peter Hansen; Bishop Coadjutor Diocese of the Western States and Rector of St. Augustine of Canterbury, Chico, CA.
Time: Class starts Wednesday, January 11th, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. Pacific Time. The class will meet for 15-weeks, with a 1-hour lectures, to include reading assignments, homework assignments, 2 mid-course quizzes, and a final examination. Discussion during the lectures is encouraged.
Text: The required texts are Francis J. Hall’s Dogmatic Theology 10-book series Dogmatic Theology (American Church Union) or the same text republished in two volumes: Anglican Dogmatics: Francis J. Hall's Dogmatic Theology: Volume I and II (Nashotah House Press) which is available at Amazon.
Course: Semester II will focus on the Incarnation, Christology, His Passion, Resurrection, and Exaltation; the Church as the Body of Christ, God’s Spirit in mankind, Grace and Sacraments; and the Eschatological study of End times, Judgment, the General Resurrection, and Eternal Life.
The Incarnation: Central truth of Christianity, Anglicanism, Biblical, developed doctrine, Virgin Mary, Christ’s Godhead, Christ’s humanity, Union of Person, Dual natures, Kenotic Theory, twofold operation, what he knew, prophet, priest, king
Passion and Exaltation: Sin, Redemption, Sacrifice, Death of Jesus, Mediator, Harrowing of Hades, Christ’s Resurrection, Denials, Features of the cross, 40 days following, Ascension
The Church: Holy Spirit in OT, NT, Spirit and human souls, Ecclesia, Body of Christ, The Kingdom, Ministry, NT to Post Apostolic, Unity, Holiness, Catholic and Apostolic, Anglicanism, Grace by sacramental system: inward spiritual, outward

World History and Religion IV:
Instructor: The Rt. Rev. Donald M. Ashman; Bishop Ordinary of the Diocese of the Western States, and Provost St. Joseph of Arimathea Anglican Theological College, Berkeley, CA.
Time: Class starts Tuesday, January 10th, 2023. Bishop Ashman will offer two independent sections, (take one or the other or both), at 11:00 a.m. and at 5:00 p.m., Pacific Time.
Text: There is no textbook required for this course.
Course: Bishop Ashman will continue World History and Religion with a study on The Twentieth Century. Note that, although this class is a continuation of last year’s classes, there is no prerequisite required for this course. The laity are especially invited to audit this course.
Historical Homiletics III:
Instructor: The Rt. Rev. Donald M. Ashman; Bishop Ordinary of the Diocese of the Western States, and Provost St. Joseph of Arimathea Anglican Theological College, Berkeley, CA.
Time: Class starts Monday, January 09th, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. Pacific Time. And if there is a demand, a second section will be held on Mondays, starting January 09, 2023, at 5:00 p.m. Pacific Time, which will have the same material as the morning section.
Text: Not required, however recommended, The Anglican Breviary offers a discipline of daily divine offices. The Anglican Breviary can be purchased from a number of sources, both new and used.
Course: Due to popular demand, Bishop Ashman will offer a very special third semester of the course ‘Seminar in Historical Homiletics.’ This third semester will offer 15 classes, (31-45), which will focus on the Breviary’s Lessons and Collects for Lesser Feasts.
Confirmation Instruction Class: **This class will only be held if there is adequate demand**
Instructor: The Rev. Fr. Benjamin Lawrence, Priest, St. Luke’s Anglican Church, Redding, CA.
Time: Class starts Wednesday, January 11th, 2023, at 03:30 p.m. Pacific Time.
Text: The 1928 Book of Common Prayer hand-outs.
Course: Fr. Lawrence would like to have at least 2 parishes from each Diocese to participate. This course is a must for Deacons and for those who are discerning the Diaconate and is offered to anyone who would like a refresher in the ‘Offices of Instruction’ and ‘A Catechism.’ There will be part instruction and part discussion of teaching methodologies for the offices.
Ecclesiastical Latin IV:
Instructor: The Rt. Rev. Donald M. Ashman; Bishop Ordinary of the Diocese of the Western States, and Provost St. Joseph of Arimathea Anglican Theological College, Berkeley, CA.
Time: Class starts Friday, January 13th, 2023, at 10:00 a.m., Pacific Time.
Text: A Primer of Ecclesiastical Latin by John F. Collins, available at Amazon. There is a separate key which is worth purchasing as well.
Course: This will be a continuation of Bishop Ashman’s Latin class from the Fall 2022 semester. Both Ecclesiastical and Classical Latin pronunciation will be taught along with basic grammatical structures: necessary vocabulary, word studies, the six indicative tenses, the six cases, the first three declensions, adjectives and adverbs. But more importantly, practice sentences are based upon scripture or taken from scripture or liturgical texts.
Biblical Greek II:

Time: Class starts Friday, January 13th, 2023, at 1:00 p.m., Pacific Time.

Course: Bishop Ashman encourages to not be afraid. YOU can do it!
Old Testament: An Elementary Survey *This class will only be held if there is adequate demand*

Time: Class starts Tuesday, January 10th, 2023, at 2:00 p.m., Pacific Time.
Text: ‘A Popular Survey of the Old Testament, Geisler, Dr. Norman L., and highly recommended the ‘One Volume Commentary on the Holy Bible,’ Dummelow, Rev. J.R., Editor.
Course: Bishop Ashman will lead an introductory class on the historical and theological aspects of the Old Testament.
